Women’s Beanpot Preview - 5 Northeastern Skaters to watch
The Annual Beanpot in 2024 will start at Harvard, but the winner will take a trip to TD Garden for the Final.
The Beanpot’s semifinals will take place at Harvard’s Bright Landry Center, and the winner will face either BC or BU at TD Garden for the Beanpot. After a shaky start for the Huskies, they have started to look like the team that looks to be the favorite contender for the Beanpot. Northeastern has won 5 of their last 7, which doesn’t even include a shootout win against Maine. The Huskies are looking to feed off this recent hot streak by taking it into the Beanpot Tournament and winning it all.
Let’s take a look at some players that will be key for the Huskies in the upcoming Beanpot.
Megan Carter
Leading the charge for the Huskies will be Megan Carter. With 8 assists on the season and a +3 rating, she has been a big leader for the Huskies so far this year. Unfortunately, Carter had an injury and missed a few games, but she picked up right where she left off the other night vs. Maine, as she had multiple key plays on defense.
Skylar Irving
The leading point-getter for Northeastern so far this year is forward Skylar Irving. She has 20 points so far on the year and has won many faceoffs. Irving also has a +11 rating, which leads the team. With all these key parts to her game, it is very important to the Huskies going forward entering the Beanpot.
Allie Lalonde
Rookies have been a big part of the Huskies year, and Allie Lalonde has clearly shown that. Lalonde is third on the team in goals, (6) and has been a key part of the Huskies’ power play. She has been one of the top rookies in Hockey East this season.
Peyton Anderson
Anderson is the Huskies’ leading goal scorer. She has 10 so far on the year and does not show any signs of slowing down. Most of Anderson's goals are around the net, as she poses a big threat when in a net-front presence, whether that’s for a tip in goal or a shot/play in the high-danger areas near the crease, Anderson will get it done.
Katy Knoll
Assistant captain Katy Knoll will be a key leader for the Huskies in this tournament. She has 11 points so far on the year, along with 111 in her NCAA career. Knoll, a graduate student has been to the Beanpot before, so she knows what it takes to win a Beanpot for Northeastern.
